Protekt® Safety and Security Film applied to
your windows can cut your risk of personal injury, property damage and theft.
The idea behind Protekt® is simple: You can't stop windows from breaking, but you can lessen the chance
that glass fragments will fly about like deadly missiles. Whatever the reason for glass
failure - an accident, a hurricane, an earthquake, a tornado, a terrorist bomb, or a
burglary - Protekt® window
film helps hold glass shards together, improving both safety and security and decreasing
personal injury and property damage.
Technology you can't see, but you
can trust.
Protekt® is a
transparent, high-efficiency micro-thin film that is bonded to glass with a specially
formulated adhesive. Glass and film virtually become one, and a barrier is created on the
inside of your windows that helps contain flying glass shards if windows are shattered by
accidental or intentional impact, explosive pressure, or the force of high, driving winds.
How Protekt can make a dangerous
world safer?
Protekt® can steal the rewards of
"smash-and-grab" theft.
Burglars and looters depend upon speed. Smash a window, grab the merchandise and go before
police arrive. A Protekt®
window is harder to break through and more likely to stay intact when smashed, making
entry difficult and stealing thieves" most precious commodity: time. They'll probably
leave empty-handed.
Protekt® reduces the danger of natural disasters.
When earthquakes, hurricanes, high winds or tornadoes shatter glass, the flying and
falling fragments can become deadly. And once its glass barrier is breached, a building's
interior is then vulnerable to rain, water damage and flying debris, too. Protekt® helps keep deadly glass shards in place, lessens water
damage and reduces liability.

Explosive
glass fragmentation occurs on unprotected pane on right while glass on the left is held in
place with Madico Protekt® window film.
Protekt®
curtails the effects of industrial accidents and explosions.
People and equipment can suffer serious injury from glass shards when chemicals, fuel or
escaping gas explodes. By reducing damages and injuries, Protekt® also reduces medical bills and
insurance costs.
Protekt® lessens the impact of terrorism and
violence.
Bombings, riots, and civil upheaval often target public buildings and certain commercial
institutions. Protekt® film greatly reduces the likelihood that occupants will be injured
by flying glass. They feel more secure and have greater peace of mind.

Other useful applications for Protekt®
safety window film.
Control of UV fading and
degradation.
The sun can be a formidable enemy. In museums, damaging UV radiation slowly
"steals" precious work of art through fading and hastened deterioration; in
commercial/retail establishments, it threatens the investment in merchandise and
furnishings; and in residences, it can drastically shorten the life of carpets, furniture
and drapes. Every Protekt® window film rejects up to 99% of UV rays. CLS-200 is a clear,
colourless film designed specifically for museums and store fronts.
Reduction of solar gain and heat loss.
Protekt®
tinted and reflective window films help keep out unwanted solar heat gain in summer, and
help retain interior heat during winter. The result is a higher level of comfort and
substantially lower energy costs.

Protection against graffiti.
Vandals are changing the technique of their "art". Instead of spray paints, it's
now glassetching. The Protekt® anti-graffiti film, a specially formulated multi-ply coating
installed on the outside, acts as a protective layer that helps keep windows clear and
scratch-free, and reduces the likelihood of costly glass replacement. The film is replaced
with no damage to the glass in most cases.
The level of protection you need... The style of film you want.
Protekt® polyester films are available
in clear, tinted and reflective styles and in thicknesses ranging from 2 to 14 mil.
Resistance to cutting, tearing and impact increases as film thickness increases. The
higher mil grades make use of multi-layers of plastic film and special adhesives to create
a laminate with superior break-resistance because of sequential impact absorption
dilution. Most Protekt® films pass the 150ft./lb. impact requirements of ANSI Z97.1 Safety
Glazing Standard. Certain thicker films meet the 400 ft./lb. ANSI criteria as well as the
Category II requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Commission Safety Standard of
Architectural Glazing Materials, CPSC 16 CFR 1201*.
